John Charles Designs was founded in 1977 as a boutique furniture company based in Southern California. Under the design direction of creative director, Nancy Genova, the company earned five Pinnacle Awards, the most prestigious honor in the furniture industry for innovative design. In 2008 American Leather acquired John Charles Designs these distinctive sofas, sectionals and chairs as part of its collection.
John Charles Designs styles are distinctive for their blend of contemporary and traditional sensibilities. The lines are sleek and clean, yet with enough softness to create a welcoming warm profile. Styles like Luxe, Metropolitan, Tres and Tori have caught the eye of magazine editors, and have been featured in national magazines including Metropolitan Home, Elle Décor and Interior Design. Many styles feature wood trim and accents as part of the overall look.
The styles are also notable for Nancy Genova’s choice of fabric. Her trendsetting selections are known for their “coffee house” colors, warm neutrals that bring home the feeling of soothing cup of java.
